The present figure is from a series of Commedia del'Arte characters modelled by Wenzel Neu in 1764-1765, taken from engravings by Johann B. Probst based on drawings by Johann Jacob Schbler and published by Jeremias Wolffs Erben at Augsburg in 1729. Dr. Boloardo is taken from plate 2 of the Probst/Schbler graphic sources.
