H.M.S. Clio in tropical rig for China service

H.M.S. Clio was one of the six "Espiegle" class sloops built for the navy at Sheerness. Launched on 14th March 1903, she displaced 1,070 tons and measured 185 feet in length with a 33 foot beam. Powered by triple expansion 1,400 hp. engines, she was coal fired and carried a crew of 150 men. Armed with 6-4in. guns and 4-3pdrs., she spent most of her career on overseas stations and sold out of the service at Bombay in 1920.
