Lot Essay

On the back of the dial are four truncated old dial feet indicating that the dial originally belonged to a different movement. There is also evidence of a single winding hole now covered by the arched signature plaque possibly indicating that the dial was originally to be made for a year-going movement.
Judging by the patina of the alteration and the fact that the present movement is also of long duration it seems possible that the alterations might have been made in Harris's workshop.
