The case with a brass double-S baluster handle to the cushion moulded top, pierced ebony quarter sound frets to the front and rear doors and to the glazed sides, the dial signed Joseph Windmills, London in the shallow arch within foliate engraving, the silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic chapters and pierced blued steel hands, finely matted centre with calendar aperture and mock pendulum aperture, winged cherub spandrels, the five ringed pillar twin fusee movement with knife-edge verge escapement, pull quarter repeat on five bells with hour strike on a further bell, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage and signed Jos Windmills London within an engraved oval reserve
