DE BRY, Theodor (1561-1623). Admiranda narratio fida tamen, de comodis et incolarum ritibus Virginiae. Frankfurt: J. Wechel for Theodor de Bry, 1590
2o (326 x 230mm). Engraved title, arms of the dedicatee, double-page map and 27 plates and illustrations, one folding, all finely coloured by a contemporary hand. (Lacks pl.18 and corresponding leaf of text, title and colophon leaf mounted, numerous defects and repairs, some affecting plates and text, a few headlines cropped, several leaves and plates bound out of order, a few stains.) Late 17th-century reversed calf, panelled in blind with large fleuron cornerpieces (short tears in upper hinge and top compartment of spine). Provenance: Richard Turbutt (his initials on sides of the binding and signature, dated 1693, on a2r).

The text consists of a Latin translation of Thomas Hariot's A Briefe and True Report of the New Found Land of Virginia, first published in 1588. Church 140-41; Sabin III, pp.24-27.
