A 3-inch (7.6cm.) diameter miniature terrestrial "thread" globe made up of two wooden hemispheres, each laid with twelve coloured printed gores, the anti-meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the continents with nation states delicately shaded in green, yellow and orange and showing rivers, towns and cities, the Congo not shown, Alaska shown as American (some surface abrasions and discolourations, split to paper and wood approx.2cm. long from equator to northern China), with ivorine ring-piece at the North Pole, raised on a simple ebonised baluster turned plinth base, the northern hemisphere being removable to reveal an interior for storing cotton, a trade label to the interior of the lid reading CLARK & Co's ANCHOR SEWING COTTONS The BEST for Hand & Machine Use. -- 4.1/8in.
