COX'S TERRESTRIAL GLOBE 2nd Edition 1838
A fine 3-inch (7.6cm.) diameter terrestrial pocket globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the Greenwich meridian ungraduated, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the oceans showing the Antipodes of Greenwich, the tracks of Cook 1768, Cook 1772, Cook 1776, Clerke 1779 and Gore 1780, the tropics and equatorial boldly hand-coloured in red, the continents with Europe, the United States and the South American nation states outlined in red, showing numerous details of towns, cities, rivers and deserts, China showing the Great Wall, the Antarctic with no coastline (a few small slight abrasions and areas of discolouration), with brass axis pins (repaired) in a turned fruitwood box, the domed lid with flat knop -- 4in. (11.4cm.) high
