A 6-inch (15.2cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve chromolithographed gores, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the oceans with an analemma and submarine telegraph cables, the continents with nation states variously and delicately coloured and showing rivers, mountains, towns and cities, Panama shown as independent, Austria shown undivided (old repaired cracks along two thirds of the equator and in northern Pacific with areas of neat redrawing, some small areas of discolouration and dents), with unengraved brass meridian half-circle, raised on an elegant baluster turned fruitwood column and plinth base -- 11in. (29.3cm.) high; and a 5-inch (14cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe PHILIPS' POPULAR TERRESTRIAL GLOBE LONDON GEORGE PHILIP & SON, 32 FLEET STREET. [c.1910], made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the Greenwich meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic ungraduated, the oceans showing ocean currents and steamship routes with distances in nautical miles, the continents with some nation states shaded green and showing rivers, mountains and cities but few national boundaries (numerous neatly repaired cracks and areas of redrawing, some gores misaligned), with simple unengraved brass meridian half-circle on turned fruitwood column and stepped circular plinth base -- 11in.
