A fine 12-inch (30.5cm.) diameter terrestrial library globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in hours in two directions and in degrees, the meridian running through Greenland and graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the oceans with an analemma and the tracks of Cook, Clerke and Gore with dates and notes including the usual marking of Cook's death on Hawaii, Firm Fields & Vast Mountains of Ice and Sea Weed Seen, with other details such as Namelefs I. acc. Anson, Hereabouts the Guardian struck on a shoal of Ice and I. Grande of la Boche doubtful 1675, the Antarctic with no detail, the continents with numerous details of towns, cities, regions, mountains, rivers, deserts and the Great Wall of China, Africa showing the Genziga, Lemta, Ighida and Twat deserts, the COUNTRY OF DATES, Bakke Bakke (Forests), Salt Water Lakes, Dry Bed of a Riv. and numerous other details, South Africa labelled HOTTENTOTS, Australia showing Country Under Water, Fine Open Country and in northern Australia VAN DIEMEN'S LAND 1618 with other areas dated according to year of discovery, the two main islands of New Zealand labelled in Maori EAHEI NOMAUWE and TAVAI POENAMOO, the northern Siberian coastline showing Explored in 1821.22.23 by Lieut.Anjou , the northern coast of Alaska showing Point reached the Blossom's boat and Point reached by the Blossom, northern Canada showing Explored by Capn.Franklin from 1818 to 1826 and Capn.W.E. Parry 1820 , North America showing the territories of the Snake, Paneese and Kootune Indians and many others, Greenland showing Explored by Capn.Scoresby in 1822 (crazing and discolouration to varnish, several old neatly repaired cracks with some fading, extensive repair and redrawing to South Pole, repairs to North Pole), with engraved brass hour dial graduated I-XII twice in two directions, the engraved brass meridian circle graduated in degrees in four quadrants, the mahogany horizon with applied uncoloured engraved circle, graduated in degrees in two directions, days of the months and of the houses of the Zodiac, with names for both and with symbols for the latter, also with wind directions, raised on four curved quadrants to baluster turned central column with three inswept scroll legs, with castors, united by three baluster turned and square section stretchers with central 6in. (15.2cm.) diameter copied card compass signed NEWTON, SON and BERRY LONDON with blued-steel needle -- 30in. (77.5cm.) high
