Uniforms of the Highland Light Infantry
A collection of officer's uniform as follows: a particularly fine pre- 1902 blue cloth shako complete with dark green pompom and black cap-lines (tongue of pompom slightly loose); a scarlet doublet with buff facings (collar and cuffs edged with half-inch Thistle lace, cuff buttons re-affixed); a fine cross-plaid of Mackenzie tartan with superb silver plaid-brooch (HM B'ham 1911); a good white buff shoulder-belt complete with regimental plate and sword-slings; a crimson silk shoulder-sash (not Highland pattern); a gold-laced dirk-belt with waistplate (lacking slider and dirk-sling); a fine mess jacket with KC gilt buttons, buff cloth gauntlet cuffs, step collar of quilted crimson silk, and winged gold shoulder-cords bearing an embroidered Thistle; another mess jacket, similar, but lacking shoulder-cords; a mess waistcoat of Mackenzie tartan (probably for an auxiliary battalion) with edging and pocket-tracing of narrow silver cord and white metal buttons mounted with HLI monogram in gilt; and two good pairs of tartan overalls, one with buttons for foot-straps (both lacking foot-straps).
