Lot Essay

Gordon L.T. Scott (1920-1991) started his career as an assistant director at Ealing Studios in 1946, working his way up to first assistant director in 1948 on Passport To Pimlico.
He directed three episodes of The Avengers during season four, filmed during 1964 - 1965: The Murder Market (episode one),The Master Minds (episode two), and A Sense Of History (episode twenty-four). Diana Rigg starred as Emma Peel for seasons four and five.
According to our research, these trousers would not have been worn for filming as they would not have been strong enough to withstand the rigours of the action required, it is more likely that they were experimented with or used for publicity purposes.
