STEPHENS, JAMES. Insurrections, Dublin, 1909, rear cover a bit soiled, author's first book, signed by him and with 24 lines of the 36-line poem "Chill of the Eve" (pp. 16-17 in the book) written out by him and initialed at end on both sides of the front free endpaper; The Crock of Gold, London, 1912, laid in is a fragment (closing part) of a Stephens typed letter signed, an oblong: "I myself think that the Crock of Gold contains really excellent work, but I fancy that the Demi-Gods, on the whole, beats it..."; The Hill of Vision [Dublin, 1912], unopened, title-page a cancel, with a signed four-line verse inscription on the front free endpaper by Stephens; The Insurrection in Dublin, Dublin, 1916, signed by Stephens and inscribed by him to George T. Keating on the front free endpaper: "I wrote this day by day as our insurrection proceeded. This little book was finished the day the insurrection was over. 'They went forth to the battle, and they always fell' will not be true for ever"; Hunger. By James Esse, Dublin, 1918, wrappers, signed by Stephens and inscribed by him to Keating on the front flyleaf: "...The nom de plume James Esse mearly means James "S," and myself.
