Pattern or Trial striking of obverse die, 1818, by Benedetto Pistrucci, struck in lead on a Crown size flan, smaller laureate head right with long muscular neck and pointed truncation, two long tie ends to wreath, the whole field divided into squares with a faint linear circle around, the legend and date incusely inscribed, each character back to front, GEORGIUS III D G BRITANNIARUM REX FI, rev. blank, edge plain (cf.L&S 189), practically as struck, of the highest rarity
