A LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED CANTON ENAMEL TWO-HANDLED POT-POURRI VASE AND COVER
Circa 1749, the enamel Qianlong (1722-1795)
The yellow ground enamel decorated throughout with scrolling, blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums and floral trails, the domed lid above a pearled collar and central pierced frieze cast with shells and flowers on a pounced ground, the interior decorated with a central peony, the pierced handles cast with upspringing scrolled acanthus, on a moulded plinth and later pierced foot, the upper mounts cast with foliage and berries, stamped four times with the 'C' couronn poinon

Lot Essay
The 'C' Couronn poinon was a tax mark used in France between March 1745 and February 1749 on any alloy containing copper.
