The present work can be compared with a signed and dated painting of 1629 sold at Sotheby's, New York, Jan. 11, 1996, lot 98 ($47,500). The identification of the sitter has been made on comparison with the print of Lubbert Gerritsz. by W.T. Delft after Miereveldt (see Holstein, V, 42).
