This elegantly decorated commode, with delicate floral trails and gently hipped outline, closely relates to other painted Genoese commodes illustrated in L. Canonero, Barocchetto Genovese, Milan, 1962, figs. XI and LXVI, and W. Odom, A History of Italian Furniture, New York, 1967, vol. II p. 128, fig. 153. Another similar Genoese commode was sold from the collection of the late Giuseppe Rossi, Sotheby's London, 10 March 1999, lot 172 (41,100 pounds).
