AN IMPERIAL ZITAN KANG TABLE, KANGZHUO
18TH CENTURY

The rectangular panelled top above a narrow waist carved in relief with 'C-and-dots' design, above angular legs terminating in hoof feet and joined by beaded edge apron, centred by confronted stylised chi-dragons between a precious emblem design, the corners fitted with metal mounts (one leg and minor losses replaced)

Lot Essay

An almost identical table also fitted with metal mounts, inside the Hall of Great Supremacy, Taijidian, is visible in a photograph published in Treasures of the Forbidden City, p. 70-71.
