A Georgian Officer's Sabre

A fine sword, generally of 1796 Light Cavalry style, with 32in. (81cm) blade bearing etched foliate and other decoration for its full length, with 8-inch panels adjacent to hilt also retaining some blued and gilt Trophies of Arms etc; ornate gilt-brass stirrup hilt with wire-bound ivory grip (small chip of ivory missing), and horse's head pommel, in its steel scabbard bearing ornate gilt-brass plaques opposite the suspension-rings
