Lot Essay

Able Seaman James Wadhams was born in Strood, Kent in August 1831 and joined H.M.S. Agamemnon as an Ordinary Seaman in December 1852. Subsequently engaged in operations in the Sea of Azoff and off Sebastopol, he was advanced to Able Seaman in late 1860 and left the Service in August 1864.
