Captain Maurice Frederick Bliss, M.C., qualified at the London Hospital in 1913 and was a Medical Officer with the British Red Cross Society in France in 1914 and Serbia in 1915. Commissioned as a Temporary Lieutenant in the Royal Army Medical Corps in August 1915, he was advanced to Temporary Captain in the following year. For his services in Serbia he was awarded the Order of St. Sava.
