A CARVED, PAINTED AND GILT SPREAD-WINGED EAGLE WITH BANNER
Attributed to John Haley Bellamy, (1836-1914), Kittery Point, ME; Charlestown, MA; Portsmouth, NH; early 20th century
Carved in half-round with articulated feathers, eyes, beak, and tongue, the eagle's head turned up and facing proper right, issuing a banner from its beak reading "LIVE AND LET LIVE" flanked by stars, with outspread wings
