J.J. Ducel was already retailing cast-iron ornaments in 1810 at Pocé, Pas-de-Calais. The factory was sold in 1878 to the Fonderie de la Haute-Marne. All their models were subsequently bought by the Val d'Osne foundry.

The model appears in the Val d'Osne retail catalogue and is illustrated in J.C. Renard, L'ÂGE DE LA FONTE, Les éditions de l'amateur, Paris, 1985, p. 213.
