Lot Essay

Keith Murray was employed as a designer at Wedgwood in 1933 and also jointly designed the new Balaston factory with C.S.White completed in 1940. The design of the coffee pot was illustrated in Moonstone with silver handles at the 1934 British Art and Industry Exhibition. The set for six was advertised from 40'- undecorated and 62'6 with silver handles. The rarer black basalt version was illustrated on the cover of the Wedgwood exhibition at the Royal Academy in 1935.
