New Twelve-inch Terrestrial Excelsior Globe J.L. HAMMETT CO. BOSTON, MASS. [c.1900] A 12-inch (30.5cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe, with overlaid cartouch, possibly by W. & A.K. Johnston, made up of twelve colour printed paper gores, the equinoctial colure graduated in degrees, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the oceans with an analemma, ocean currents and warm and cold isothermic lines for January and July with temperatures in Fahrenheit, the Antarctic with partial stretches of coastline, the continents with nation states delicately shaded in green and yellow and showing rivers, mountains, towns and cities (several old cracks and repairs, abrasions and discolourations), with stamped bronze hour dial and cast bronze meridian circle and tripod base, with foliate decoration and lion's paw feet -- 21¼in.
