Later overpainted, the high back with twin fielded panels depicting figures in 17th century costume, below a frieze rail inscribed St. John 1613, the downswept arms and hinged seat painted with a coat-of-arms and inscribed Viscount and Baron St. John, the twin panelled front painted with crowns and halberds with initials A.S. and H.S., below a frieze inscribed Bollingbroke, on bracket feet
