An oak panel back armchair, English, late 17th century
The profusely carved back with an arcaded lozenge and roundel filled design centred with a crown and Tudor rose above a flowering tree and initialled C.R., surmounted by a scrolling cresting carved with seahorse like creatures and trailing thistles, with downswept arms and ring-turned supports, later drop-in seat and carved rails, on block and turned legs joined by moulded square section stretchers
