The rounded body raised on a flared foot ring and finished on the interior with a slightly raised inner lip below the rim, covered inside and out with a lustrous black glaze suffused with a dense pattern of fine silver 'oil spots', the bottom of the foot wiped clean to expose the fine buff ware

A bowl of this rare type and of this unusual large size was included in the exhibition, Song Ceramics from the Kwan Collection, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 1994, no. 158.
