Lot Essay

The success of Chapu's (d. 1891) Jeanne d'Arc à Domrémy, exhibited in marble at the 1872 Salon, is evident in the no less than seven sizes of cast (the present being an example of the second largest) in which the work was edited in bronze by Barbedienne.
