A LOUIS XVI GREY-PAINTED MERIDIENNE
Stamped I.B.LELARGE, Circa 1780
Each outcurved padded end and the seat cushion covered with metal- thread embroidered mustard silk damask, the seatrail carved with rais de coeur, each scrolled end of the guilloche-carved supports terminating in an acanthus rosette, on tapering stop-fluted legs with brass caps and casters headed by paterae, the rear central leg replaced and undecorated, the two ends cut, probably as a result of being reduced in height
32¾in. (83cm.) height of ends, 16in. (40.5cm.) height of seat, 73½in. (186.5cm.) wide, 30¾in. (78cm.) deep
