A George II oak longcase clock, second quarter 18th century
The case with hood with fret carved swan neck pediment flanking a brass ball and spire finial, outset turned plain columns, the arched top trunk door with moulded border, on plinth (split to centre) raised above a wavy apron, the 12in. square cut-away brass dial with bacchus mask spandrels to the silvered chapter ring signed Jno. Fletcher Kendal (restored cracks), matted centre with penny moon flanked by small aperture for day of moon, with date aperture below (restored cracks to both sides), the four ringed pillar movement with inside countwheel strike, with replaced seatboard; possibly associated -- 86in. (219cm.) high
