A RED AND GILT-JAPANNED CABINET-ON-STAND
The cabinet possibly 18th Century and redecorated, the giltwood stand of George II style, 19th early 20th Century
The rectangular top, above a pair of doors with raised decoration depicting two large eagles on branches, with landscape and water beneath and the sides with smaller birds in a landscape, enclosing a later glass shelf and a later sliding tray, the reverse of the doors decorated with vases of flowers on a gilt background, the stand with moulded edge, above a scrolling foliate apron centred by a youthful mask, on cabriole legs, headed by lion-masks issuing acanthus leaves, on lion paw feet, refreshments to the decoration, the stand regilt and the front-right foot replaced, the moulding to the top of the stand added, the cabinet refitted, the underside inscribed 'KP404' and with various printed canvas labels
