Sir Ernest Henry SHACKLETON (1874-1922) and others. - A 1p. menu Shipwrights' Company S.Y. "Endurance" Luncheon, July 15th, 1914, 13.2 x 8.8cm., printed in blue, with the signatures of 12 participants on the verso: Frank Worsley, George Marston, Shackleton, Frank Wild, Tom Crean, Ernest Wild, Baron Adrian Gerlache de Gomery, A.Savors, Bernard Gribble, J.H. Biles, and a small pen and ink sketch of a ship at dock, initialled by Gribble, framed between two sheets of glass.

Provenance: J.H. Biles (Master of the Company of Shipwright's, pencilled note laid onto frame).

A fine memento of one of the final important social engagements undertaken by the crew of the Endurance before they sailed from the West India Docks in London on the 1st August 1914, four days before the outbreak of the First World War.
