A rare late 17th-Century English fruitwood set of Napier's bones,
unsigned, the six cylindrical multiplier rods with turned handles fixed in the case beneath a card covering with inscribed grid lines numbered 1-9, the underside of the case with stamped information including A Perpetual Almanack, an epact table for the years 1679 to 1700 with letters for the day of the week that is New Year's Day for each year and a tide calculator based on the moon's age for thirty-three Chiefe Ports, with iron hinges for the lid (one hinge broken, lid missing), the case -- 4¾in. (12cm.) wide
