A rare 17th-Century equal-arm balance,
unsigned, the finely modelled steel beam pivoted within a delicately pierced and moulded suspension decorated with flowers, scrolls and geometric patterns, the balance pointer viewed through a circular 'window', the arms with silver pans suspended by fine cord, with brass mounting pillar and marble stand -- 8½in. (21.6cm.) high
