An unusual late 19th-Century French timepiece with aneroid barometer mounted to simulate a steam driven water pump,
the timepiece and barometer mounted symmetrically in simulated brick piers, with centrally mounted rod driven water pump below oval frames with crank simulated eccentric, curved spoked flywheel, the crankshaft mounted in a simulated brick bearing and housing containing a separate winding mechanism; further details include a railed entablature raised on four doric columns with dummy inverted cylinder, valve chest and pipework, the whole finished in plated and polished brightwork and mounted on a rosso alicante marble base with brass corner plates -- 19¾ x 14in. (49.5 x 35.5cm.)
