A rare early 19th-Century anemometer,
signed Et. Neumann, Rue de Seine. 56. PARIS No. 33, and also stamped on the underside of the shaped base NEUMANN A PARIS, the impeller with four mica blades, fine gearing, recording spring arm and sliding brake operating against the impeller blade axis, with original cord accessories, a disc stamped LACHEZ, a rectangular plate stamped ARRETEZ, pole and separate extension arm for rear of base, and a corked glass phial, with maker's explanation label in manuscript applied to the lid of the original oak carrying case with single brass hook and eye -- 4.7/8in. (12.3cm.) high
