A Canadian Officer's Victorian Sword
An infantry officer's 1855 pattern sword, with good 32¾in.(83cm) slightly-curved blade by MAYNARD, HARRIS & CO, LEADENHALL ST, finely etched with foliate decoration, VR cypher, and scrolls inscribed CANADIAN and INFANTRY above and below numerals LXXI and a Beaver, gilt-brass guard (gilt now rubbed) of regulation pattern but with VR cypher only partially voided, fishskin grip and brown leather sword-knot in an unusual steel scabbard, originally regulation but now with the middle band and both suspension-rings removed, and partially covered in leather.
