A good and very complete group of late Victorian/Edwardian Field Dress and other uniform of the Queen's Body Guard for Scotland, as follows: dark green tunic trimmed with black mohair braid showing purple velvet lights and edging; companion trousers, with double braid stripes showing purple velvet between; a fine Field Dress bonnet (Maker's label obscured by name-tag inscribed Ewart) with richly-gilt badge superimposed on green silk rosette and cream silk riband, complete with Eagle's feather; a green cloth bow-case, edged with purple velvet, bearing finely-gilt breast-ornament and Star in gilt and enamel; a black leather waistbelt with ornate gilt clasp bearing the Scottish Royal Crest in the centre, complete with its leather cape-sling, a fine green cape with gilt KC buttons, chain and clasp, the buttons and clasp both mounted with device in frosted gilt; an evening dress coatee of green cloth, with gilt mounted QVC buttons (lower edge of one skirt slightly defective); two white evening waistcoats (one complete with three small gilt mounted RCA buttons, the other lacking two buttons); and various documents, including a set of Dress Regulations for the Body Guard, dated 1908, an illustrated instruction on the method of folding the cape, two drill manuals for the Body Guard, a General Order dated 1903, detailing members for various duties in connection with a levée at Holyrood House, and a similar Order for the Royal Visit of 1911, etc.

This uniform was worn by Lt.Col. Robert Ewart of Allershaw, who commanded the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers, and who was on duty both at the Levée of 1903 and the Royal Visit in 1911
