SARAH SHIMP, SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA, PROBABLY FIRST-QUARTER 19TH CENTURY
The rectangular plain woven form identified at the top with the red cross-stitched name, "Sarah Shimp," and below in several horizontal registers including a red and blue cross-stitched heart flanked on either side by stylized flowering plants above a drawn-work panel over several geometric crossed foliate forms over two potted plants each with two crowned birds all flanked by stylized floral motifs above a drawn-work panel over a second register of similar geometric motifs centering at the bottom two crowned birds embellished above and below by hearts and on either side by stylized floral forms all over a fringed open drawn panel--53¼in. x 16in.
