A HALF-SIZE COTTON-ON-LINEN EMBROIDERED HAND TOWEL
SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1820 - 1840

The vertical plain woven cotton ground with bound edges worked in several cross-stitched horizontal registers of pink and blue threads comprised at the top of two stars flanking the initials, "B.S." enclosing two small birds all above a large central spreadwing eagle over three bands of alternating heart and tulip motifs above two registers of alternating cross-stitched geometric designs and drawn fringe--12in. high, 19¼in. wide
