The arms are those of Pierre-Franois de Brunet de Pujols de Castelpers de Levis, Marquis de Villeneuve, Comte de Montredon, Vicomte de Lautrec. He was the son of Louis-Joseph, Marquis de Villeneuve and his wife Elisabeth de La Croix de Castries whom he married in 1674.

Jacques Helft attributed all of the dishes in this lot to Thomas Germain, even though four are lacking a maker's mark. A copy of his letter of attribution dated December 16, 1976 accompanies this lot.
