by François-Charles Loyson (fl. 1761-1768), marked, Paris, 1766-1767, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prévost, the miniature in the manner of Jean-Baptiste Weyler
Oval gold-lined mocha-coloured lacquer box, the cover centred with a glazed oval portrait miniature of a gentleman wearing breastplate and the badge of the Royal French Military Order of St Louis, within a gold mount and ribbon-tie and laurel gold surmount and floral base, the pierced gold mounts engraved with stylised acanthus
