A LOUIS XV STYLE JEWELLED AND ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX
with marks resembling to the date letter of Paris 1760/1761, the charge and discharge marks of Éloy Brichard 1756-1762, inventory number 146 and a rubbed maker's mark, with later French control marks
Rectangular box, the cover, side and base panels with translucent green enamel on an engine-turned radiating wavy sunburst motif, the cover and four sides centred with horizontal oval enamel plaques painted with peasant scenes in the manner of Teniers, in rose-cut diamond borders, the gold mounts engraved with a scallop border, the upper rim of the sides engraved with a ribbon-twist band enclosing quatrefoils, diamond-studded raised silver thumbpiece
