2° (378 x 260mm). Engraved title, 72 numbered hand-coloured lithographic plates after Rechlin and Schulz, on paper guards, the majority uncut. (Title browned at margins and with short tear at foot, some soiling and browning of plate margins, some margins a little tattered, a few short tears, plates 22, 25, 37 and 61 rather spotted, plate 23 with some paper discolouration at upper margin, plate 25 also with small burn hole at foot.) Roan-backed [?] publisher's green cloth, upper cover with title stamped in gilt (joints rubbed). This series was initiated in 1830 (see Lipperheide p. 547 Qdb 32).

Das Preussiche Heer unter Friedrich Wilhelm IV. Berlin: L. Sachse, 1843-1845. 2° (375 x 272mm). 36 hand-coloured lithographic plates, on cloth guards. (Plates 19 and 29 a little soiled at outer margin, plate 25 spotted in upper part and slightly miscut at lower margin, plates 32 and 34 with short tear at lower margin, plates 33 and 35 creased at upper corner, plate 36 spotted.) Later plain green half morocco, original engraved buff wrappers to the 6 parts bound in (joints rubbed). Provenance: Marquess of Cambridge, stamp at lower right hand corner of each wrapper. This is a sequel to the previous volume, parts 5-6 being issued together, evidently with the title on the wrappers only and, like the previous work, without letterpress. The 36 plates were reissued by Sachse, with a further supplement, in 1854. Only plate 5 is clearly signed 'CR.' Lipperheide p. 548 Qdb 44; Vinet 2163. (2)
