Lot Essay

Although unmarked, the present coffe-can and saucer are of a form and type of decoration associated with the firm of Dihl & Guérhard. See Régine de Plinval de Guillebon, Porcelain of Paris 1770 - 1850, New York, 1972, no. 102 for a coffee-can and saucer of the same form and pp. 136 for a pair of similarly decorated vases.
