A fine French 18th-Century laquered- and oxidised-brass surveyor's circumerentor,
signed on the underside Baradelle AParis, the finely divided circle with four fixed sights and finely engraved decoration on the cross-supports, the alidade with two sights and twin vernier scales, with centrally mounted glazed compass box, the base engraved with eight compass directions and a fleur-de-lys, the blued-iron needle with brass cap (loose), raised on a ball and socket pillar and staff mounting, with associated brown painted pine box (lacking hook) -- 7in. (17.8cm.) wide
