A 20th-Century oxidised and lacquered-brass armillary sphere,
unsigned, the marble earth-ball held within Polar, Tropic and equatorial rings with fixed copper ecliptic band stamped with pictures for the houses of the Zodiac, with stamped brass meridian circle and horizon ring, the latter on four curved and graduated quadrant supports, on the shoulders of a stooping figure of Hercules, clad in the skin of the lion of Cithaeron atop a stylised rocky base -- 53in. (134.6cm.) high
