Circa 1750, probably Staffordshire
The cylindrical body supported on two short back paws and two long forepaws, the cover modelled as the animal's head with jaws agape and a ring through its nose, applied overall with chipped clay to represent fur, the eyes, teeth and paws picked out in cream-coloured slip (cover extensively repaired and sections restored, one paw re-stuck, chain to nose a restored replacement)
