A KAGAMIBUTA AND THREE IVORY MANJU NETSUKE

A rounded square kagamibuta, the iron plate inlaid with various metals and decorated with two quails among millet by full moon, within a wood bowl (small crack), the himotoshi silver-lined, 13/8in. (3.5cm.); a large ivory manju netsuke carved with six noh masks and inlaid in shibuichi with the mask of Hannya, gold details, signed around the himotoshi Hakuunsai; an ivory manju netsuke carved with Hotei resting on his sack and holding a brush, his protruding belly painted with a face, the reverse with the back of a karako, signed Ryomin with a kao, 1¾in. (4.5cm.); and another carved with an oni cast away from a house during the Setsubun mame-maki, signed Homan, 17/8in. (4.7cm.) (4)
