Black lacquer ground embellished with gold flakes and powder; decoration in gold, aokin, silver and black hiramaki-e and takamaki-e and gold foil; compartments and risers gold nashiji; shoulders and rims gold lacquer; signed in gold hiramaki-e underneath Kanshosai saku [made by Kanshosai]; stained ivory ojime

On one side a male courtier in a robe decorated with a turnip motif; on the other side another dancing courtier with an umbrella
